US Department of Energy

The Department of Energy site has easy-to-locate sections for educators and for students & kids. The teachers' section contains catalogs for ordering lesson plans by age level, freebies and grants, plus student activities. There are also sections on the science fair and fair projects. The kids' section has activities and links to other sites.

University of Arizona Center for Insect Science Education Outreach

Integrated science/math lessons utilizing insects. The lessons for K-3 have three sections. They are teacher preparation (set-up and materials), the actual lesson plans, and additions (extensions, vocabulary, and a bibliography.) The lessons also contain direct links to pertinent activity, information, and rearing sheets. Topics address health, inquiry, life cycles, decision making and links to national standards and scientific processes.

Powerful Bones. Powerful Girls.

Powerful girls have powerful bones! This girl-friendly web site helps girls understand how weight-bearing physical activity and calcium can be a fun (and important!) part of everyday life. The site is part of the National Bone Health Campaign, founded by the Office on Women's Health within the Department of Health, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the National Osteoporosis Foundation. The site's key features include interactive games and quizzes, recipes for tasty foods with calcium, and ideas to help girls get plenty of weight-bearing physical activity.

Pathfinder Science

Pathfinder Science is a virtual community that practices mutual respect, embraces diversity, and inspires a passion for learning about the material world through science. It provides numerous links to lesson plans and internet sites with various science-related topics and activities for students to use. Pathfinder also offers a Teachers’ support area for the involvement of research projects.

One Health Kansas

One Health Kansas promotes awareness and understanding of the interconnections among human, animal and environmental health throughout the state of Kansas. One Health Kansas offers hands-on interactive programs that educate K-12 students, teachers and the general public about zoonotic diseases, environmental health, and the human-animal interface. Besides information on K-State programs and health topics, there are links to activities and resources.

National Wildlife Federation provides information, videos and lesson plans on wildlife, the oil spill, global warming and other topics. A special kid's section has coloring pages, crafts, and outdoor activities by age appropriate levels.
