The EYH Expansion Program gives young women an extended opportunity to explore the science, technology, engineering and mathematics careers in hands-on workshops. The participants work in small groups in one of four career fields to explore a specific career in greater depth with a female mentor. The young women do experiments that mimic the actual work of the mentor and create take-home items produced in the workshops. The young women may register when they register for the EYH Conference or later after the conference. The Expansion Program will be open enrollment so EYH attendees can bring a friend. Registration is due by February 10th, so sign up today!
Workshops/Careers:
1-Build the Best! Learn engineering principles, work and compete in groups to build different challenges. See who can work together to build the biggest, strongest, tallest, and best!
2- Increase your Mind with Computers. Explore how math is related to computer technology and the basics of computer language. Develop a personal website and explore other fun activities with computers.
3-The Zoo You Never Knew. If you've ever been to a zoo before, you know it is a great place to visit on vacation- especially the Kansas City Zoo. But did you know that zoos are helping keep many endangered species alive both at the zoo and around the world? Come explore zoo conservation efforts and give you tips on how you can help endangered species, like polar bears, too.
